Volleyball Improvement Pre-Season (VIP!!!) Scrimmaging

The STAR coaching staff is offering 90-minute scrimmage sessions the two days before tryouts!

The Sessions!

Girls will be grouped according to experience in the following manner:
* Open: At least 8 seasons of competitive vball AND at least a rising 10th grader
* Platinum:  At least 6 seasons of competitive vball AND at least a rising 9th grader.
* Gold:  At least 4 seasons of competitive vball.   
* Silver:  At least 2 seasons of competitive vball.
I plan on making no exceptions. We do our best to group the girls with those of similar experience/ability

* A "season" is a play-to-win period of time, where athletes had mandatory practices, real matches, wore uniforms, had paid referees, etc. So, a season is not rec ball, not county ball, not doubles, not a camp or clinic, etc.

Huge Important Note:

In all 4 divisions, the athletes:
a) have to be able to execute 3 defenses - - base, free ball, double blocking. And the athletes;
b) have to understand how to play those 3 defenses when their team has a back row setter. And the athletes;
c) have to be able to serve receive with 3 to 4 people, while having 1 girl designated as the setter.

Seasons where girls weren't required to do (a), (b) and (c) shouldn't be counted as qualifying "seasons" for VIP Scrimmaging. If girls happen to be accepted into VIP Scrimmaging, yet do not know how to do (a), (b) and (c), then they not enjoy the scrimmaging. In fact, they may have to be removed and tutored one-on-one.

If parents aren't sure if their daughter knows these three skills, then they can send me about a few minutes of video of her in action with her team. That's probably all I will need. .

The Probable Schedule!

Sunday Aug 2: We will probably have 4 sessions. These times are approximate.
* Silver: 11am to 12:30pm. Gold 12:30pm to 1pm. Platinum: 1pm to 2:30pm. Open 230pm to 4pm.
The director of these sessions is tba.

We always limit each session to 13 girls:  Four OH's, four rights/setters, five MB's and liberos.

Each session will go through this process:   warm-ups, stretching, peppering, serving & hitting.  Then the coach will create two teams, switching people continually, and the rest of time will be scrimmaging!!! 

Note: There will be very little position training. This is scrimmaging!!

Here's How You Reserve Sessions For Your Daughter!

* Parents can reserve hour(s) by emailing or texting Coach Houser.
* Parents may reserve more than one session for their daughters. 
* You can see what's available here. This site will be updated constantly.
*** When contacting Coach Hoiuser, plz indicate the girl's preferred position(s) and the # of seasons of experience.  

We usually can answer your text/email within 24 hours.
If we don't know you from previous lessons/camps/etc., please don't be offended if I ask you for a little more info.  I just want to ensure that the athletes are grouped properly so that all 13 have an appropriate & challenging experience. 

* An athlete's reservations will be guaranteed by advance payment of:
- - $45 for one session. $40 for every session after the first one!!
* If you need to cancel, and want a refund, I ask for 2 weeks notice. If you cancel after that, I can still give you a refund if together we can fill the open spot.
* Payment must be received within 1 week of making the reservation or the hour will be opened back up.
* For payment, parents can use Venmo. My account is @Thomas-Houser-10. Plz only send money by Venmo after we are Venmo friends.
* Parents can also use PayPal. My account is coachhouser@yahoo.com. Please only send money if you can choose "send money to family or friends".
* Parents can also send a check to Coach Houser at 6023 Marsh Wren Lane, Roanoke, 24018.
* Parents can bring a check or cash to the gym where I give private lessons.
