Players Of The Week!

Week 5: Sept 15 - Sept 20
Varsity: Anayia Irvine, Gretna High
Anayia just passed 1000 kills for her career. She's a wonderful digger, passer, server and she's a shut-down blocker. And her potential is limitless! She is a fun athlete to watch play!
JV: Brooklyn Floyd, Franklin County
Brooklyn's game grows each time you see her. She is skilled at hitting, blocking, setting & serving. She was named Tournament MVP at the James River Tournament on Sept 13.
Middle School: Tes Smith from Christian Heritage Academy.
Leads her team as captain. Is a shining light on and off the court. She is setter and 2nd leading for her team in Aces for the season

Week 4: Sept 8 - Sept 13
Varsity: Grace Woodard, Westover Christian School
Grace has played varsity since the 9th grade. She digs well, serves well, and blocks well. But she excels as a setter, as she just passed 1000 career assists. She’s only about 350 off the school record.
JV: Emma Carter, Hidden Valley
Emma improves markedly each time you see her. She is a setter with wonderful hands; but, also hits when in the front row, digs like a libero and has a wicked serve.

Week 3: Sept 1 - Sept 6
Varsity: Lauren Torborg, Tunstall High School
Lauren is a senior and played & trained her entire career as a right side & a middle; but, this season is shining in the middle for her strong Tunstall varsity team. She has served 18 aces, while serving 89% in the court. She has 34 kills and is hitting .358! She has 4 blocks, and even has 17 digs and 3 assists. Lauren works for Coach Houser in the summer giving lessons and coaching at camps.
JV: Addison Rosen, Northside High School
Last year, as an 8th grader, Addison played JV and took on the setter role. Now in her freshman year, she’s the captain of her JV team, playing outside hitter at 5’3”! She has been a libero on top travel teams in the area since she started on a 12U team. But what really makes Addison special is her energy. She’s the teammate who’s always cheering others on, offering support when someone’s down, and keeping the mood light with a spontaneous dance. She leads with kindness, plays with passion, and lifts everyone around her. She’s the kind of player who makes the whole team better.
8th grader on JV: Emersyn Pugh, Christian Heritage JV team
Emersyn started volleyball at Coach Houser's JTA summer of 2024. After JTA she tried out for MS at CHA and made the team. Then moved on to travel volleyball with NRV to try and make herself more competitive. There she became the libero for the top 12 Black team. This season Emersyn was asked to join the JV team at CHA and made the top level 13 Performance team with NRV. Emersyn spent the summer training one on one and attended the UNC Libero camp to help improve her skills. Emersyn's love is VOLLEYBALL and she dedicates all her extra time to the sport she loves. She also maintains straight A's as she has her entire school career.

Week 2: Aug 25 - Aug 30
Varsity: Julia White, Christian Heritage, right side hitter
Julia had 19 kills, and hit .372 in 2 matches.
She also had 3 aces, 2 blocks and 19 digs.
She is a dynamic athlete who can change the course of a match.
JV: Mackenzie Williams, Magna Vista High, setter & right side
Mackenzie has a wonderful serve and great hands. She's left-handed, quick, strong and a player to be on the lookout for in the next few seasons!
Middle School: Emma Grace, Andrew Lewis Middle, setter
Emma is a nice athlete with uncanny arm-setting accuracy. She makes setting look easy and has wonderful hands. She can set to anywhere on the court.

Week 1: Aug 18-23
Varsity: Peyton Greer, North Cross, setter
For the week, Peyton had 99 assist, 7 kills and 34 aces.
She is fast, strong and a great teammate.
She has accurate hands and makes great decisions.
She is a low-maintenance athlete who her teammates love to play with.
Middle School: Rylinn Weatherford, Hidden Valley Middle School team.
This girl has a ripping jump serve.
She can hit off 1 foot or 2 feet.
She can set to anywhere on the court.
She is quick & strong. She makes this difficult game look very easy to play.
