Memories from Morgan #6
Those last couple of points in the HOV match i could like feel our
energy on the court like we were playing as one, and thats something ill
never forget, that we never stop fighting until the last point is
played. It was great! Also, i really feel like the bonding between us
grew as we went on, I mean we had ups and downs but we played so much
better as the games went on, and we really really like got into a
groove. I thought ava set AHHMAZINGLY and everyone is improving so so
so so so much. I think this tournament kinda boosted our confidence to
the point that we really feel as if with the right mind set and the will
power, we can DO not try, to beat any team we come up against! so to me,
that was so special...also, gussie and jenny i thought were great in
serve receive and digging, at the end we picked up tons of tips and
dumps! soo i cant wait to see where we are in the next couple of
weeks-months!
Here we are
before our first match & we finished first place after day #1! GREAT
JOB!
Memories from Sarah #5
I remember getting to the hotel on Friday night. I was sooo excited to
finally be there. I got the word that some of my teammates were at the
indoor pool (yes!) so I threw on my suit and went to the pool. It was so
much fun to just hang out with my teammates and relax in the hottub and
talk. I remember waking up Saturday morning and going to the
Silver Diner with Caroline and Jenny. Gussie and her mom showed up so we
made the waiter switch theirs and our table so the four of us girls
could sit together and the four moms. He really didn't like us. I
remember getting to the Convention Center and coach Houser talking to us
and getting us to write 9.75 on our hands. I loved this! I've been going
over it at least twice a day ever since, I'm pretty sure it's almost
permanently on my wrist! I remember winning all three of our games
Saturday. This rocked! It was a great way to start the weekend.
When we played HOV and lost I was pretty upset but I knew that it wasn't
over and we could still come back. Walking through China Town was really
cool! While half the team was working the game before ours, Coach
Houser hit Morgan in the back of the head with a chair. Hahahahaha.
We won our first game on Monday and everyone was so excited when we
found out that we were playing HOV next. It went to three games and when
we won 12-15, I can't even explain the feeling. It was amazing and I was
so happy. Even though our last game didn't go as well, everyone played
their hearts out and gave it their all. Finishing third and getting our
medals was an awesome feeling. And I know that it won't be the last time
that it happens!
I love our team and coaches sooo much! This weekend was absolutely
fantastic!
And I like the picture of the destroyed speed bump on the team website!
Sarah :)
Our Sunday
Morning Pools!
Challenge Match To See Who Goes To Gold:
We played East Carolina Jr Vball Club (ECJVC) White on court 51...no court 13...1.5 hours late!
They hit some, blocked none......and were a VERY GOOD team!
We were tired, their tips & rolls were falling......but we finally won 25-22,18-25,15-9

Memories from Lauren #12
There were lots of fun memories from this past weekend, some were:
-exchanging valentine's gifts and seeing what everyone got
-being able to say to people: "yeah.. my team got third out of eighty
eight this weekend. we're pretty amazing."
-hanging out with the team during breaks and taking pictures with
Coach's camera (:
-seeing the sights in the city
-team talks after each day when we say something nice about everyone on
the team
-the celebration after we won a big, big match (:
- Coach's huddle speeches (: for example: "my wife is a big star wars
fan..."
& many more!
Memories from Ava #2
I have sooo many fantastic memories from D.C., but here are my personal
favorites:
- When we first arrived at the hotel in the pool
- Coming back and playing our hearts out after our first, um,
"interesting" game :)
- Coming off first our net the first day
- Winning some critical matches!!
- and just overall getting to know my teammates and realizing how lucky
i am to be on such a happy, sportsmanlike, bonded, team.
Day 2: WE GO TO GOLD!!!!!
......after being in the gym from 7:15am until 9:20pm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Memories from Assistant
Sam Washburn
....Friday morning I remember getting a text from Coach Houser saying he
was in need of an Assistant Coach and frantically driving home after
school to pack everything I needed for the weekend. I remember the drive
up, talking to Coach Houser more than I ever have before. haha
...I remember walking through China Town and riding the subway for my
first time with some pretty great people. Also, taking pictures to
document that day.
...I remember "Meeting the President" and being "helicoptered" back to
the Convention Center.
...I remember us beating HOV and the jumping up and down and screaming
everyone did..(even Coach Houser).
....and I remember winning 3rd place and the girls with smiling faces as
they were awarded their metals. :)
Parents called the THS Reservation Department at (toll
to cancel a reservation that they made, it had to be done 3
days prior to check in, which would be February 9, 2009 before noon.
The Tyson's Corner Mall was right around the corner. Unfortunately
there was no complimentary breakfast, but many other amenities.
