Our 2011 Hotel Info!

The Hotel that we will stay at will again be the Marriott Tyson's Corner in Vienna Virginia, 8028 Leesburg Pike, Vienna VA.  The website is
http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/wastc-tysons-corner-marriott/

Parents will be probably asked to call the THS Reservation Department at (toll free) 888-536-TEAM (8326), and made their reservations.  Beth Anne will tell you.

If you needed to cancel a reservation that was made last year, it had to be done 3 days prior to check in, before noon.

The Tyson's Corner Mall will be right around the corner. Unfortunately our hotel will have no complimentary breakfast, but is has many other amenities.

Team Activity!

This is from Mrs. Gray, our "team activity" director!  :)

"So...I'm thinking let the girls go back to the hotel after our a.m. wave and clean-up then one of the following options:

1. Evening at the pool...swim, hot tub, play games, listen to music, order pizza, or;

2. Go to mall for team dinner and girls can shop before or after if they want. There is a TGI Friday's which should be good for a "loud" group and they have a large menu with wide price range.

Admission Ticket Info

Updated Feb 3, 2011

ADMISSION FOR SPECTATORS:
SPECTATORS can purchase either a One Day Ticket for $6 per person, per day or a Weekend Pass Wristband for $15 per person.  A One Day Ticket is valid only for the day on which it is purchased; One Day Tickets are not sold in advance. Weekend passes are available the night before, see below

TICKETS:
Individual or group ticket sales are available for Weekend Passes only ($15) the night before play begins, Friday, February 18th. Come to the Walter E Washington Convention Center and look for the ticketing booths in the main lobby off of 14th Street.

You can purchase tickets for individuals or large groups - send one person to pick up the tickets for everyone on your team! You may have to do a little planning with other people from your club, but it will be worth it. Pre-ordering group tickets is not required, just show up and we will help you.

Ticket booths will open at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 18th and remain open until 8:00 pm. Group tickets can also be purchased once the event begins by going to the designated ticket booth in the lobby from 7:00am to 7:00 pm. .

Coolers, Food And Chairs

NO COOLERS ALLOWED
NO COOLERS of any kind, of any size, or for any reason are permitted in the Washington Convention Center. Coolers left inside the building will be removed to the outside of the building. Coolers left outside the building are the sole responsibility of the owner, but may be confiscated if security deems them a hazard. Neither Capitol Hill Classic, Metro American VBC or the facility will assume any responsibility for coolers or providing a place for them.

NO LARGE BAGS, BALLOONS, CHAIRS OR OUTSIDE FOOD ALLOWED:

No outside food can be brought into the Convention Center building, not even into the lobby. This is a Convention Center rule that we must enforce as a condition of our contract; it is not our rule. We understand people don't like this, and neither do we. But we are bound by the terms of the contract and cannot negotiate this away. We apologize for any inconvenience it causes.

In this post-9/11 world, major facilities reserve the right to restrict any items being brought into the building that they consider to be a problem; this includes personal seating and other large containers. We do provide seating for spectators at each court.

Teams will be penalized if supporters hassle the security staff about these rules. Please abide by the rules and let the tournament be enjoyable for everyone.

USAV High Performance Tryouts

Tryouts for athletes interested in selection for USA Volleyball's Youth National and Junior National programs take place on Friday, February 18th from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Washington DC Convention Center.  Any interested athlete may tryout - you do not need to be playing in the Capitol Hill Classic.  Additional information available on the 2011 HP tryouts page.

Some Playing Info!!!

Competition begins at 9 am on Saturday, February 19th, 2011.
As noted above, we are in the am wave on day 1.  Playing times for 2nd and 3rd days will depend on how the team finishes the day before.  We must NOT assume we play in the same wave on the second day as we do on the first day.

The event runs in waves. The morning wave begins at 9 am; the afternoon wave begins at 3:00 pm.

Final matches on most courts are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Monday, February 21st. BE AWARE, however, that many courts run late on the 3rd Day.

Check in For Teams........

We can probably check in the team between noon and 8:30pm on Friday before the tournament begins, or before 10:30 am on Saturday.
