Dig Pink Day!

DIG PINK RETURNS TO CAPITOL HILL CLASSIC
Dig Pink Day is Sunday, February 16.

The 2014 Dig Pink Tour from the Side-Out Foundation will get underway at Capitol Hill Classic and we hope you join us in making it special! More than just wearing pink on the second day (Sunday, February 16), the Dig Pink Tour is about working together to improve the lives of breast cancer patients.

The Side-Out Foundation just unveiled its new Hospital Card project and the Capitol Hill Classic will be the first collection spot. Let's set the bar high for future tour stops and get as many cards as we can to cheer up patients in George Washington University Hospital.

Stop by the Side-Out Foundation booth to drop off your cards, take part in team challenges or pose in the photo booth. Click here to learn more about the Hospital Cards Project..

Recruiting Symposium

Capitol Hill Classic is pleased to announce its first annual Volleyball Recruiting Symposium. College coaches from all over the country are coming to DC to scout talent. Learn from coaches, parents and athletes on Friday, February 14 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on what to expect during the recruitment process. We have thoughtfully invited a myriad of people to round-out the panel and best educate parents and student-athletes on recruitment for the sport of girls volleyball.

Featured Panel:

      • DI Coach | University of Florida | Mary Wise
      • DI Coach | American University | Barry Goldberg
      • DI Coach | University of North Carolina | Joe Segula
      • DII Coach | Clarion University | Jennifer Mills
      • DIII Coach | Gettysburg College | Leah Bernier
      • Compliance Officer | George Washington University | Chandra Bierwirth
      • Academic Support | American University | Maureen Breslin
      • Student Athlete | American University | Allison Cappelino
      • Parent of Athlete | Virginia Tech | Ed Caine
      • Moderator | Berkeley Prep & Tampa Bay Juniors | Randy Dagostino

Join us for an evening of education before the tournament begins! Space is limited. Please click here to register for the symposium and scroll to "CHC Recruiting Seminar."

Admission Ticket Info

AVOID THE LONG LINES!
Purchase Guest Registration Online!
All family, friends and fans of team, players and coaches must register as guests. (in other words, you must pay admission.)

Registered guests can purchase a One Day Registration wristband for $10 per day
or a Weekend Guest Registration for $25.

A One Day Registration wristband is valid only for the day on which it is picked up.
Wristbands for guests can be picked up at the online guest registration booth.
Look for the big barcode sign onsite in the West Salon near the main entrance of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Players & Coaches:

Player & Staff Wristbands:
At Team Check In, the Team Representative is issued wristbands for each player on the roster up to 15 and each staff member up to  3 (can be Coaches, Chaperones, Team Representatives, Managers, etc. or any combination of staff positions but no more than 3). These wristbands are included as part of the Team Registration fee – there is no extra charge for them.

  • Staff members listed on more than one roster receive only 1 wristband for the event.

  • All wristbands must be picked up at one time by the person checking in the team.

COACHES REMEMBER to issue your players a wristband before you ask them to meet you inside the playing venue. Players who do not have a wristband will not be allowed into the playing facility.

2013:  Coolers, Food And Chairs

NO COOLERS of any kind, of any size, or for any reason are permitted in the Washington Convention Center. Coolers left inside the building will be removed to the outside of the building. Coolers left outside the building are the sole responsibility of the owner, but may be confiscated if security deems them a hazard. Neither Capitol Hill Classic, Metro American VBC nor the facility will assume any responsibility for coolers or providing a place for them.

NO LARGE BAGS, BALLOONS, CHAIRS OR OUTSIDE FOOD ALLOWED:
No outside food can be brought into the Convention Center building, not even into the lobby. This is a Convention Center rule that we must enforce as a condition of our contract; it is not our rule. We understand people don't like this and neither do we. But we are bound by the terms of the contract and cannot negotiate this away. We apologize for any inconvenience it causes.

In this post-9/11 world, major facilities reserve the right to restrict any items being brought into the building that they consider to be a problem; this includes personal seating and other large containers. We do provide seating for spectators at each court. Teams will be penalized if supporters hassle the security staff about these rules. Please abide by the rules and let the tournament be enjoyable for everyone.

Some 2014 Playing Info!

Competition begins at 9 am on Saturday, February 15th, 2014.

I'm expecting all results to be posted on AES here.

The event runs in waves. The morning wave will probably begin at 9 am; the afternoon wave probably begins at 3:30 pm. We will post exact starting times for age groups later. All teams should be prepared to play at 9 am on Day 1.

Final matches on most courts are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Monday, February 17th. BE AWARE, however, that many courts run late on the 3rd Day.

Playing times for 2nd and 3rd days will depend on how the team finishes the day before. DO NOT assume you play in the same wave on the second day as you did on first.
